Josiah, a young biracial man, grew up in the forest, and now lives inthe same small cabin. We come to understand Josiah’s strugglesthrough his remote therapy session; not completely understood bythe therapist on the computer screen, attempting to do just thatand the emotional toll of being unable to recall memories from hischildhood. Flashbacks take us to moments of Josiah playing in theforest as a child, culminating in a pivotal memory of encounteringa white man hunting, and being faced down by his gun. In the finalmoments of the film, a tree branch falls, startling the man andcausing him to misfire onto his own foot. Josiah stands above himin awe and gratitude to the forest. Realizing in that moment, thatboth the hunted and the hunter are both in a deep state of fear.
